Course Overview:

This US-EPA training course sets the foundation for conducting an asbestos survey. The role of a certified AHERA Building Inspector determines the presence, quantity, location and content of asbestos containing materials in a building and conducts a physical assessment on current condition of the materials and the potential for future disturbance.

WorkSafeBC recognizes knowledge acquired from this AHERA Building Inspector course as part of the educational component of a “Qualified Person”.

  • Legal Liabilities
  • Gather information through initial review of construction documents.
  • Inspect the building for suspect asbestos-containing materials.
  • Delineate Homogeneous Sampling Areas and develop a sampling plan for bulk samples.
  • Collect bulk samples for laboratory analysis for asbestos content.
  • Conduct physical assessmentfor all Asbestos Containing Building Materials
  • PPE requirements when conducting surveys
