Prince Rupert Airport
Prince Rupert Airport, Digby Island, BC, Canada
May 2014 to December 2014
The objective of the Prince Rupert (YPR) Airport Terminal Upgrade Project was to expand, modernize and bring the existing structures up to code. The project included construction of new washrooms and baggage claim carousels, renovation of administrative offices, and expansion of the main concourse and security room area.
During the planning and development stage, RJ & Associates conducted a due diligence hazardous materials survey (inventory). Once completed, RJ & Associates prepared abatement specifications based on the survey results. RJ & Associates then engaged abatement contractors for tendering, and made recommendations in awarding the successful bid.
RJ & Associates managed the abatement project ensuring regulatory compliance. This included:
- Site monitoring,
- Air Sample collection (Ambient, Occupational and Final Air Clearance),
- Inspections (Pre-contamination, Final Visual, and Tear-Out),
- Tracking of waste disposal.
- Establishing a dedicated onsite laboratory for asbestos fibre air analysis by PCM (NIOSH Method 7400).
