The Vancouver International Airport Authority, through the development of the Link II Expansion project, had an overall main objective to improve airport passenger traffic between the Domestic and International Terminal Buildings, and enhance the YVR airport experience for travellers while commuting to and from their destinations. The main feats of the Link II Expansion was the open connection on the departures level between the Domestic and International Terminals, as well as the direct connection of Domestic and International arriving flights.

RJ & Associates was involved in many different construction phases throughout the duration of the project to provide various levels of consulting services relating to environmental health and safety management. Prior to the planning and development of the Link II Expansion project, RJ & Associates completed a due diligence survey investigation for asbestos-containing materials within the project area. The findings and results from this survey were utilized in preparing the abatement specification that was included within the final specification package developed for (YVRAA) on this project. RJ & Associates managed all aspects of the abatement of friable and non-friable asbestos-containing materials which included, site monitoring for compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, ambient, occupational and final clearance air sampling, pre-contamination inspections, final visual inspections, and tear-out inspections, and tracking of waste disposal.
