Project Description
Project Initiative
With the ever-growing enrolment at the University of British Columbia, the demand for residential and commercial development continues to rise around the area of the South Campus district. The purpose of this project was to develop a piece of land on the southwest corner of 16th Avenue and Wesbrook Mall into a ground level shopping center with residential condos levels above. The excavation of the piece of property required the contractor (VanMar Constructors Inc.) to comply with existing UBC and City of Vancouver guidelines for water quality of discharged excavation water, specifically in regards to pH levels and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) concentrations.
Responsibilities
RJ & Associates was obtained by UBC Properties Trust to provide routine monitoring of the effectiveness of onsite excavation water treatment prior to discharge, collect water samples for TSS concentration and pH levels, and to support VanMar with the onsite maintenance of the engineered treatment system. Through analytical data and recommendations from RJ & Associates, water discharge was maintained compliant during the course of the project.
