Duration: 1 day (08:30-16:30)
Course Overview:
This course covers the requirements to meet current respiratory protection related regulations: WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation Part 8, Section 32-45, and CSA Standard Z94.4-02. Course participants will acquire the knowledge to become their companies Respirator Protection Program Administrator.
During the course attendees will be:
- Sized and taught proper donning procedures.
- Fit Tested using Irritant Smoke and / or Bitrex.
- Instructed in Fit Testing procedures and will practice with co-attendees using qualitative fit test method.
- Instructed in completing Fit Test documentation.
- Provided documentation outlining the fit test results.
Major Topics discussed:
- Different type of breathing hazards.
- Respirator types, uses, selections and limitations.
- Filters, cartridges, and change out schedules.
- Respirator Fit Testing (Qualitative and Quantitative)
- Protection Factors and Maximum Use Concentrations.
- Respirator care, storage and maintenance.
- Regulations and guidelines concerning respirators.
- Preparing a company-specific written Respiratory Protection Program
Continuing Professional Development Credits:
- 7.0 CPD (Informal) hours by the BC Housing Licensed Builder Program
